The theme of the annual conference this year is "Future Partnerships between Higher Education and Society. Campus-Community-Partnerships revisited". New deadline: 15 May 2022

The annual conference of the higher education network "Education through Responsibility" will take place from 29 to 30 September 2022 at the University of Teacher Education Upper Austria in Linz. The OeAD is one of the cooperation partners.

Conference theme 

2022, the conference will be held under the theme "Future Partnerships between Higher Education and Society. Campus Community Partnerships revisited". The focus will be on the following question: "To what extent can knowledge transfer and social engagement contribute to a mutual added value for universities and civil society actors? The cooperation between universities and society in areas such as service learning, community-based research, social entrepreneurship or citizen science as well as innovative research and development perspectives for future partnerships will be discussed.

Conference objectives 

  • Identify strategic developments in the area of knowledge transfer between higher education institutions and society and critically evaluate the consequences for science and society.

  • Generate a research inventory on service learning, community-based learning/community-based research and other forms of knowledge transfer between higher education institutions and society. 

  • Present examples of forms of implementation of campus-community partnerships in different disciplines and types of higher education institutions and support stronger networking between higher education institutions and civil society.

Submit papers

The following papers can be submitted until 15 May 2022:

  • Research papers: Ongoing or completed contributions from research that use scientific methods to contribute to academic discourse in the topic area. Time: 20 minutes presentation and 10 minutes discussion.

  • Practical examples: Ongoing, planned or desired service-learning projects, community-based research projects, citizen science projects, etc. Time: 10 minutes presentation of an innovative idea followed by 20 minutes discussion to develop new perspectives.

  • Poster presentations: Ongoing or completed projects or new project ideas. All accepted poster contributions will be presented in a gallery during the conference.

School-related contributions are expressly welcome!
