OeAD at the ECSA Conference 2024

The ECSA/ÖCSK Citizen Science Double Conference will take place in Vienna from April 3 to 6, 2024.

The program of ECSA 2024, which this year takes place as a double conference with the Austrian Citizen Science Conference (ÖCSK), is available online and the OeAD Center for Citizen Science is involved in several contributions to the program.

In the workshop "Citizen science with schools - developing best practices for diverse educational contexts", the results of the working groups from Germany and Austria will be reflected upon and discussed by the participants. (April 3, 13:00-14:30)

In the workshop "Empowerment in schools: reflecting the roles of students, teachers & scientists in citizen science projects", participants will be able to adopt different perspectives and develop strategies for good cooperation. (April 3, 15:00-16:30)

In the fishbowl "Change in schools: Strengthening the understanding of democracy & science through participatory approaches", experts will provide insights into the approaches of Citizen Science, Service Learning and Holocaust Education and discuss the possibilities of participatory learning in the school context with the participants. (April 4, 15:00-16:30)

On April 6, there will be an opportunity to get to know two Citizen Science Award 2024 projects at the Citizen Science Day market stall in the Natural History Museum. Representatives from "The ABC of Dialects" and "Let's talk with a scientist" will be on site.

Several current Sparkling Science projects are also represented in the ECSA program, including "Care cultures at the end of life", "u3Green", "Green roof habitat" and "WILDLIFE CRIME". With various contributions, they will present their research results, which were developed together with pupils.
